Chance to Dance Stars Journey
Chance to Dance Stars CIC is a dance school for students and families in the disabled community. Chance to Dance Stars was founded in 2013 by Victoria Andrews and became a Community Interest Company in June 2018. Our current Directors are Victoria Andrews, Lynda Coultas, Tammy Baker and Ali Freeman.
Where we began?
I was a Nanny to a family whose son has Autism. He wanted to go to dance classes, so after researching the local community we headed off. After several trials we found that not all local dance schools were accessible. We came away feeling very deflated knowing another hurdle to access the same opportunities as everyone else was going to be difficult.
So working closely with our local special needs schools they helped me to see if and where the demand was and WOW, we found so many families with budding dancers ready to have a dance school that was inclusive.
So in 2013 we opened Chance to Dance in Reading with 2 classes running every fortnight. Over the years we became more known and the demand was so overwhelming that we added more classes. In 2015 we found families were travelling from further a field to attend our classes, so we opened another Dance School in Bracknell, Martin's Heron.
Welcome to 2024!! We have got 13 dance classes between Reading, Coley and Bracknell we are catering for even more families. We have three Dance Movement Classes that cater for students who require extra physical support in order for them to get the maximum benefit from the class and a Dance Class for Adults. The other classes are split by many factors such as age, physical level, communication, ability to follow instructions and overall concentration. This also includes a Glee Class.
Since April 2022 we began working in partnership with Brighter Futures for Children offering Short Break Activity Days. Alongside our Holiday Camps in Reading and Bracknell. This is still very successful.
We would love to see you and your family at one of our classes soon!
